ABOUT OUR WORK
The Muddy Otter was founded in 2019 in Camdenton, MO by Mitch and Hannah Prentice.

The business moved to Galesburg IL in 2022, where it continues operations today.

A bit about the art duo:
Hannah fell into the world of clay quite by accident. While studying environmental studies at college, she took a ceramics class to fill an art elective. From day one of working with clay, she knew there was no going back, she was stuck in the mud. She spent the rest of her college experience glued to the studio. She spent time studying clays, glaze making, kilns, form, and everything that goes along with this complex art form. Each part of the process gives her immediate peace and inspiration. From bowls, mugs, and wheel-thrown vessels to complicated glaze chemistries and firing schedules- she has been trying a little bit of everything.
The other otter:
Though originally starting the company making wood-turned items, Mitch decided to share the love of pottery with Hannah and learn the craft himself. Now, though much less experienced than his counterpart, the duo makes ceramic items together.
This husband and wife duo pour their hearts into everything they create and truly consider their work a labor of love.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know the company. We hope you find something you like!
